        Churros             con                                     

         chocolate:

  • approximately 25 mins
       

                                      Ingredients:
                                                                           churros
  •  90 grams of caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 125 grams of plain flour
  • 125 grams of self raising-flour
  • a pinch of sea salt 
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • sunflower oil for frying
                                                                          chocolate  
                                                                              sauce
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 50 grams of mil chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • 300 ml of double cream 
                                                                                                method: 


                                                                                           
    • mix together the cinnamon and the sugar.
    • to make the chocolate sauce melt the chocolate in a heavy bottomed tin with the cream and golden syrup,be careful to keep your sauce from burning. keep stirring the mixture.
    • sift the plain and self raising flour with a pinch of salt in a heatproof bowl.
    • in another bowl mix the olive oil and 450ml of boiling water. pour this into the other bowl with the flours after making a well in the centre.
    • to remove lumps, beat the mixture with a fork, the dough should be soft and sticky, allow it rest for 10 minutes.
    • fill a saucepan with one litre of sunflower oil and heat to 170 C. 
    • put the dough into a piping bag and pipe the dough into the saucepan in a sausage shape (use a star shaped nozzle), cut the dough to the length you want/
    • fry for 3-4 minutes until the churros are golden brown in colour. drain the oil out of the churros by covering it in kitchen paper.

    Churros are a traditional spanish dessert usually served with a chocolate sauce. it was developed be shepherds centuries ago. Churros were originally around the size of a breadstick and were rolled in cinnamon sugar or eaten plain. Churros are currently very popular for breakfast, lunch or dessert in Spain. It didnt take long before churros had traveled to South Africa, North America, and other Hispanic countries. Soon after moving to different countries the were prepared in different ways, there were chocolate filled churros, jumbo churros, churros and fruit and so on.
